POSSUM'S TREATMENT

Possums are some of the protected animals in Australia; hence killing them without a permit is a crime. They thrive in areas with vegetation and sometimes among buildings. The other way of managing their presence is to monitor their access points and erect some blockages.
One can also prune the branches close to the buildings they use as access pathways. Some prefer to build a 30 cm fence on top of the existing fence as a deterrent.
Possums are non-aggressive, but they can create unsanitary conditions. The best way to eliminate them is to create unfavourable conditions or make the environment less appealing for them. One can also physically remove them if the other strategies are not effective. Eliminating all the food supplies from the environment is essential because food is a source of attraction. Instead of feeding pets outdoors, using indoor feeding sites helps limit their access to leftover food.
Using chemicals to destroy possums is possible, however, a license is required. Examples of poisonous chemicals include cyanide and sodium nitrate.
